Can somebody tell me how long it takes to walk from terminal 3 arrivals to terminal 1 departures...
son has 1 and half hours from landing to check in on connecting flight.

Does he have a through ticket? if not and he has to go through security and the incoming plane is a bit late his chances of making the next flight are slim.

No richard . he lands with virgin from new york and takes a flight to man with bmi....i think he's hoping the new york flight gets him in early.

I'd allow half an hour to walk, or he can take the free bus (they're every few minutes)

I wouldn't bother with the bus: its likely to take longer than walking as the traffic around there is usually pretty bad.

Seeing as terminals 1, 2 &3 all use the one underground station what I'd do is follow the signs for the underground, then once arriving at the station concourse follow the signs for T1.
