good tent for a festival?

Is this a good tent? It is just for me and I want to take it to a festival where it rains a lot.

Something very cheap that you can regard as disposable is your best bet - festivals can get hard on tents - From dunk/stoned people tripping and falling on them in the night to the idiot who has never cooked for himself before enjoying the newfound pleasure of throwing raw or part-cooked meat around.

Also, guy ropes - Ideally you want something you can pitch securely with the bare minimum of guying as they will get tripped-on.

And a four-man tent? Do you value your solitude that much to lug something that heavy around, or plan to have your own party in the camp site? Why not just get a much cheaper 1 or 2-person tent and rough it like the rest of us?

Similarly there are the phantom poop-people, who are known to sneak into random tents and leave deposits instead of queuing-up for the long-drops/turdises. A tent big enough to stand-up in will be very inviting for them! :eek:

Sounds like a festival newbie to me. If the OP gives more info then I'm sure help and advice will be forthcoming.

Good for a festival as most get trashed so no worries about leaving it.
Bad for a festival if it rains as it won't keep water out for any length of time.

Best festival "camper" I ever saw was a slightly louche guy in a linen suit whose entire luggage was a bottle of whisky in one pocket, a big bag of something naughty in the other and a medium-sized tarpaulin.

He just sat down wherever he felt like it, unrolled the tarp and wrapped himself up in it whenever he felt like a snooze. Used the whisky bottle as a tent pole over his head...!

It's a big tent for 1. Not all festivals are like pogofish describes. I've never had any problems with tents getting trashed - though guy ropes have been a problem and so we prefer tents where minimal guys are needed.

Get the cheapest pop up tent you can. Then you can spend more time drinking than pitching. Chuck in skip after. Next year: repeat as above.

Go to tescos and buy the cheapest two man tent. It'll be big enough if it's just you. And bin it on your way out.

You maybe need to go to better festivals then..!

But yes, not all are like that but you only need to be in the path of one staggering drunk, idiot food-flinger or worse to have a perfectly good tent ruined and they can turn-up even at the nicent of festivals.

Also, the OP's tent weighs ten kilos dry so that's a pretty hefty amount to cart about, neve rmind any other stuff they might need.

Maybe something a bit different, I have a 2 man with extra space, so similar to that tent, This is something similar to what I have and it's lasted 3 festivals so far and kept me dry. There was one time I got a teeny bit wet when it just wouldn't stop raining, but no tent will protect 100%!!

That one is way too big for 1 person, it'd be great for 2 people though who want their own 'rooms'. This tent I've linked to is only 4.3kg, so not as heavy!

I've slummed it with the cheap tents, but I'm too old for that rubbish now, I like my air bed, decent tent, bbq and camping stove for tea! Or a hotel...
