Buy it now purchase seller asking for more postage costs

Have bought an item on buy it now, and the seller has sent an email asking for an extra £8.85 for tracked or £7.75 for postage as she says she underestimated the postage costs and says "I completely understand if you want a refund"

I don't really want to pay any more postage and feel a bit cheated as I wasn't expecting to have to pay any more for the item.

I'm not sure what ebay's rules are regarding this.

Any advice please?

Respond politely pointing out that you have bought the item on the terms advertised and expect her to send it on those terms, and that you don't want a refund - you want the item. Suggest to her she considers MyHermes for delivery, which may save her (NOT you!) some money.

Thank you that is really helpful. I checked the Hermes prices and the item is 2.5kg, and the Hermes price for 2-5kg parcels is £5.99, and she allowed £6 for delivery costs, so I suggested that she use them for delivery as their costs fall within the amount she had specified for delivery.

Alternatively and only slightly more complex, she can use the ebay postage and use Shutl (powered by ebay). It is £5.65 for UPS 24 hour with £60 compensation. She just needs to use the 'print postage' from the ebay sale.

If the buyer still refuses then there is little you can other than open a INR case or just let them refund you. Its not your problem they got the postage wrong but Ebay can't force them to send you the item. Do not forget to leave them appropriate feedback.

Thank you, she has agreed to send it via Hermes
