Help! - Halifax/Computershare sending us around in circles!

Hi all,
My Grandad was left some Halifax shares in my Grandmother's will (sole beneficiary) after she passed away last year, Computershare and Halifax have been completely useless in helping him transfer the shares into his name.
We've jumped through all the various hoops they've thrown at us, and now, nearly a year later we're still at it, as they've just sent us *another* bloody form to fill out!
How is an octogenarian supposed to fill these out? The "help" is useless, you can't even get hold of them, and the Halifax staff have no clue either, it seems that Computershare just wish to tie you up with legal garbage that you give up and they can steal the shares!
Anyway, I've done some digging about and found the following link which may be of use to others:
http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/so/faqs.htm
Quite why they aren't forced to write these forms under the "Plain English" initiative I don't know...
Hopefully there may be some light at the tunnel in closing this whole episode now..
The one thing that people here might be able to help us with is that they've also sent a letter informing us that there is no dividend for the shares in question.. How can this be? We've other HBOS shares and had dividends from those in the same period?
Have Computershare "appropriated" it somehow? Is it legal? Can we get it back?
[ rant ]
Personally I think that the way Computershare and Halifax have dealt with this has been utterly shameful - this is the last remaining thing to give my Grandad closure on the whole chapter, and they seem to take pleasure in prolonging it for profit!

Hi, Stoobs,
Sorry to hear about your difficulties. Have you been dealing with Halifax's dedicated bereavement service centre? They seem to be better informed than the branch/telephone staff.0 -
Hi - I work for Computershare and would be happy to help you sort this out. Call on me on 0117 902 4481. Cheers, Lucy0
