July 2017 Grocery Challenge

Hello all
Well, my spends for this week amount to 33.29, made up of a £6 minishop midweek and a larger shop today, with a few good YS offers, including lots of fruit and fish. This should do me for the week, so I'm doing fairly well at staying on track.
My budget is fairly small this month, but in general I am planning on doing most of my shop at a farmer's market every second week and visiting the supermarket other weeks. I have found that the farmer's market is much more expensive than the supermarkets, but I tend to buy much more thoughtfully and actually spend less money because I'm not tempted by lots of unnecessary crap. The quality at the market is much better too, for both meat and veg, and it is really helpful when it comes to healthy eating - I can only buy stuff which is cooked into decent meals!
It feels so good to be on track with this challenge again, after a few months of mindless spending!
Good luck over the next week everyone!2025 goals

£1 on milk from the corner shop and £65 on a MuscleFood order. It seems a lot but it should hopefully last us the whole of this month and more. We also have a fair amount of vegetarian protein in stock in the form of lentils and beans. First shop of the week is tomorrow though. Hope to come in at under £30 as mainly fruit, veg, eggs and dairy on the list.
One good result of the June challenge for me is that I have discovered that my dishwasher is not rubbish - it was my dishwasher tablets that were rubbish. I ran out of them when I had very little left in the June budget so went for the cheapest option in £ terms (despite there being fewer tablets in the bag) rather than bulk buy the cheapest option per tablet as I normally do. Ended up with a small bag of posh tablets that were on offer and my word my dishes are sparkly today! Will try to get those more often!Mortgage (original/ current):193,000 (23/09/11)/ £102,500 (07/11/2019)

Spent $82 on vegetables and seafood and things on Saturday. I'm trying out a technique which might seem counter intuitive, which is instead of doing a big weekly shop and getting in all the things, I'm using the supermarket like a pantry and dipping into it if there's something I need that day. My hope is that it'll force me to find alternatives and be a bit inventive with what we've got, instead of just falling back on the same staples.
Out of inspiration today though. Was going to do a tofu/broccoli thing, but we had a similar flavour profile yesterday and I'm a bit over it. Don't really know what I want to eat.MFW diary here. 1 Feb 2017 $229,371 - MFD Feb 2043  aiming for May 2028

We have spent a total of £61.84 so far. Already did our bulk buying of the month though we still need to get at least sweet corn and pasta from L!dl as they are cheap there.

£17.99 spent last night by OH on beers, milk and bread. Annoyed but he did get me an alcohol free Koppaberg. Told him that's his quota for the week.

Good grief today's shop cost £46.17. I was hoping it would be under £30. That's more than half the month's budget gone in the first 3 days. Still, we have enough meat for the month, a fair amount of frozen veg. Upcoming spends will be on dairy products, bread and fruit mainly. But I am pretty sure this month will see the budget blown out of the window!
Oh just remembered £4 of that was on clothes for LO so can knock that off the total (different budget).Mortgage (original/ current):193,000 (23/09/11)/ £102,500 (07/11/2019)
