Just about the only part of the Labour manifesto I agreed with was scrapping the Right to Buy. Fairly pointless though, as it is about 10 years too late.
Roll out of the RTB for HA tenants is on hold until the affordable one-for-one replacements through the Right to Buy scheme regional pilot has ended (2018). Given that this is an utterly ridiculous idea and is impossible to deliver, I'd suggest that while you are enjoying low rent you save hard to buy a new home on the open market.
Housing Associations and the Right to Acquire remains in place (subject to eligibility criteria) but as the discount is capped at a more realistic £16k no one is really interested in that

Basically I think extending Right to Buy to housing associations is asking for trouble. People don't get a housing association property if they earn enough or have a reliable enough income to pay a mortgage so I can see a lot of problems like one of the latest Right to Buy threads on here. If you earn enough to pay a mortgage you should be able to save and buy on the open market and leave the housing associaton property for someone who doesn't earn enough or have a reliable income.0
