Hi, I'm looking to buy a used car. I've seen a vauxhall corsa (05 plate) which looks great but noticed one of the mot advisories for the last couple of years had been ' front constant velocity joint gaiter damaged, but preventing the ingress of dirt'. I have absolutely no idea what one of those is, so was wondering if anyone could advise as to whether it is something that would be particular costly if it needed fixing. Really appreciate any help on this.

It is a rubber boot that keeps dirt out of the joint. They aren't expensive to replace and need doing occasionally as they split & perish. The part is cheap but they are a fiddly to change.0
