My Epson XP 422 is just over a year old, and it has been going cranky for a month now. It is now printing blanks, despite having nearly full cartridges in. I have tried all the maintenance routines - nozzles and heads, but nothing is working.
I have read some reviews which suggest this whole series are famous for breaking down.
Is it time to get a new printer?

    Not necessarily.

Try printing in photo quality for a while on normal A4 paper, it'll take longer but as I said in the other thread, 8 times out of 10 it'll start working properly again.

Thanks Neil, I will try that.

Quick update, it still isn't printing even though I tried Neil's method, and to make it worse, it has stopped scanning from the unit, although I can go in via the PC, but then it will not print in PDF form.
    I think I need a new one.

not printing to PDF is not a printer problem, you have a problem with the drivers.
Have you tried uninstalling the software and drivers and re-installing?
(make sure you have the latest software from Epson website before doing this)

Cheers Tony, I downloaded the latest drivers and it now seems to be working, although the layout and controls are very different to before.
