    Why would the OP need to do that? All the valves needed to complete recharging of the expansion vessel are accessible from the outside without disturbing anything.

    They wouldn't need to remove the case on a greenstar, it would be easier to remove it though as you could use the internal drain off, most older boilers the vessel can be done over the back.

    Someone said you could remove the boiler case without being gas safe as your not touch anything gas related, was just pointing out that a lot of boiler including the greenstars the outer case is also a combustion seal.

    Just in case if it was beneficial to anyone else. An engineer recharged expansion vessel and changed and a valve and it seems to be working fine. Luckily no leaks discovered!
