Hi.
I recently opened 3 vantage accounts to take advantage of the interest. I have had my club lloyds account for a few years and never had a problem. It has been nothing but a hassle since i opened these vantage accounts as small payments such as £500-£1000 keep getting blocked and my online banking credentials blocked. The whole process is made worse by the stupid security questions relating to my credit report and they also ask nosy questions like what is the payment for. It has happened 3 times in the last 24 hours and i told the last CS rep that im this close to going to a branch and removing the funds as the interest isn't worth the hassle. To his credit he has ordered a review of my account by the analytical team and i will hear back in 24 hours. Have had the santander 123 account as my main bank for over 5 years and it works perfectly.
My question is is this a common problem? One of the CS reps suggested the system doesn't like multiple account over different LBG accounts.
Thanks for any insight

I've had 3 BoS Vantage accounts for over 4 years. Concurrently, I also had multiple Lloyds accounts (when they also offered Vantage), Lloyds Club & a Halifax Reward.
I don't recall any problems such as you describe, so 'the system' doesn't seem to dislike my multiple accounts:cool:0 -

Mine neither.... but perhaps 'the system' in question includes Santander.... :silenced:
Hopefully "a review of my account by the analytical team" is not as sinister as it sounds. Or am I being paranoid after the recent Ford experience?"In the future, everyone will be rich for 15 minutes"0 -

That pay 2% on £15k? Can you share the details please
The only thing that comes close is Santander's 123, and if you already have 2 of them then there isn't much choice left.
Personally I would be taking a slightly less confrontational approach with them - I wouldn't want to tempt them to call my bluff and wave me goodbye."In the future, everyone will be rich for 15 minutes"0 -
I recently opened some BoS Vantage accounts, but apparently I need an activation code before I can set up SOs etc. How long does it take for the activation code to arrive?I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0

I had the exact problems myself with the same scenario.
Stupid security Q's and ignorant security staff on the phone.
Accounts blocked on almost every transaction-not that many TBHO-
Eventually had to go into a local bank to get the accounts unfrozen and I raised a complaint about it.
Been OK ever since but at the time was certainly not worth the hassle.
Supposedly their system "learns" that you move money around and stops blocking it.
Which is crazy because isn't that what everyone does in banking?0 -
mxhoward84 wrote: »Thanks for the advice people and yes your probably right i will tone it down if if happens again but its not really a bluff. Not willing to ring them up everytime i need to make a transfer its absurd.
Doesn't really matter whether it's a bluff or not, you are costing them a lot more in interest than what's available on the money markets so they would be quite happy for you to take your money elsewhere.0 -

But I'd say most regulars on here would think it is a fair bet they know more about you than you think (especially with a Club Lloyds account too) and they are already fairly confident that someone with 3x BoS Vantage, 1x Club Lloyds, 2x 123 (etc....) is unlikely to be making much use of the overdraft any time soon.
The days of multiple interest paying current accounts with one bank are numbered - you only have to look at the Ford situation to see that time is very nearly up

Unfortunately:
1. Fraudsters will access customers internet banking and call the fraud department to get payments that have been blocked approved
2. Customers who are being duped by fraudsters into making payments will be instructed to lie about the purpose of the payment if the bank questions it
Nobody in the bank actually gives a f*ck what your payment is for, the 'nosy' questions are so that the fraud department can be satisfied that what you are telling them is consistent with the information they can see.
If you were ever unfortunate enough to be the victim of fraud and you found out the bank's systems stopped a fraudulent payment but the fraud team allowed it to go through because the checks they made weren't adequate I doubt you'd be very amused.DEBT FREE!

My regular bank (First Direct) I've held for a quite a number of years and have 3 accounts with plus a regular saver and credit card are overly cautious when they see a large amount get transferred out. They won't admit it but they hang on to the payment until I ring them up to query it, only then will they ok it.
Over cautious yes and it annoys me I have to ring them up, but on reflection they are looking after my money should some sort of fraud be taking place.0 -
No, it's not common and it's not a multiple LBG accounts problem. Like others here I have several accounts across Halifax, Lloyds and BoS.mxhoward84 wrote: »My question is is this a common problem? One of the CS reps suggested the system doesn't like multiple account over different LBG accounts.
The only time I've had a transaction stopped was apparently due to a change of PC, device or browser (according to the person I spoke to in Lloyds fraud department)0
