Sorry if this is the wrong forum but perhaps someone will know how a political party's constituency office can obtain my ex-directory number to ask me to vote for their party.

why not ask them where they got your number.
If you are ex directory then it is not just the fact they got your number, but where did they get it from as that is where you need to address0 -
You probably provided your ex directory number (voluntarily) to another organisation that sold your information on..
Are you really that concerned? Just vote according to your conscience. There are far worse cold calls than political parties canvassing votes!0 -
It was just out of interest. I never give our number to any organisation apart from our phone provider and bank!
I couldn't ask where the caller got the number as I just happened to pick up a voicemail - we very rarely use our landline.0 -

You could still write and ask them. (In your position I would also be curious to know.) That said I suspect you won't get a satisfactory answer.0 -

Two different MSE accounts?0 -
There are plenty trolls on this site with multiple accounts, this one is trying to discredit labour on the eve of the election, obviously forgot what account to use in that reply.
Surely if they wanted to do that, all they would have to write is something along the lines of "I received a call from the labour party asking me to vote for them and when I said I wasn't going to, they became very abusive"0 -
Who cares???0

If you can't even keep your log ins straight ( or remember the password if that excuse crops up) then how on earth can your recollection of who you gave your number out be accurate also0
