Average utility bills

Hi I'm new to this.. we're about to move in to our first house and trying to average our total utility costs before mortgage payment. It's a 3 bedroom terraced house, with just myself and partner living there, home only evenings. We're trying to budget higher to be safe.

Council tax :

Oh, come on. I see you're a newbie and we're meant to be nice but TV and council tax? TV licence is whatever it is these days, a known figure for those who own them (I don't) and easily found out if you've never had to pay for one. Council tax? Depends on your council and the band that your house is in, both of which I very much hope you'll know, but we certainly don't.

Water? Is it on a meter, what is the local company?
Broadband? Look elsewhere on this forum for the best deals and what is available where..
Gas/Electric: what sort of terrace, old, modern, insulation, what's the central heating, what cooking facilities are there?

OK. So go away and found out the easy stuff yourself, and for the others come back here with more information and people will give you their best shot. I could tell you that I've a three bedroom terrace, but unless you knew that it was well insulated and that I had solar panels and a wood burner knowing my annual gas and electric bill was around £240 wouldn't really help..

My tip: get yourself a hardback A4 notebook and jot everything down in there (and date it). That way you'll be able to flip through and find obscure bits of information (shelf & curtain sizes, costs, dates etc.) as it'll all be there.

How can anyone tell you how much your CT will be without knowing the address? It's not based on the number of bedrooms...
Look on the EA's spec and it will show you the CT band. Then look up the cost of that band on your LA's website.
Water, if RV billing: simply ask the EA to get the vendor to confirm how much is payable per year. But you may have to switch to metered billing if not already metered, in which case estimate from the supplier's tarrif. You can't choose a supplier.
TV: I assume you mean TV subscription, not licence? TV is 100% free with Freeview and Freesat, if you want subscription channels then you could pay £100 or more pm depending on what you want. It doesn't vary by area.
Energy: use any comp site with average kWh figures for your property.
You forgot to add contents and building insurance, and landline for your broadband. Phone and broadband cost vary enormously depending on what services you want: anytime calls, ADSL, FTTC etc.
PS: isn't it normal to work out your budget before you purchase the property?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
