Restaurants and Things to do in Brighton?

I am going to Brighton this Saturday with my husband and staying for one night. Can anyone recommend any good restaurants, not looking for anything pretentious or too posh!

Also any good things to do during the day on Saturday or evening? Not looking to spend my time in pubs.

I'm also interested in art galleries for sea scenes (any good ones)?

we live near to Brighton and always enjoy wandering the 'lanes' especially the north lanes-also the marina-although a bit away from the centre-is always a nice way to spend an afternoon...........

The Lanes can be a pleasant time to while away some time, so can a walk along the seafront (Hove end though) I don't agree with the Marina suggestion, i was there with the family at Easter, very poor shops and .. well just not that good.
