Investing in Global x Funds

I am looking to invest in two Global X Funds (Lithium Ion Battery & Internet Of Things funds), they show up on my Hargreaves Lansdowne account but are not available, assume because of location?

Is there anyway I can invest in these from the UK? It mentions Fidelity on their website, but wanted to double check on here before creating an account.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Thanks

Looking on the HL website they are available in a SIPP or a Share Account, just not an ISA.

Why that is I don't know, I looked up another US company just to check and you can hold that in an ISA so maybe it's arbitrary, it's certainly not just because it's a US company. You'd have to check other ISA providers.

Some funds are available with HL but not through their normal online dealing route - call them to see if they will accept a transaction request over the phone or via email. I had this issue with some ITs into an HL SIPP.
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

SIPPs dont have these restrictions - see the final sentance

Thanks Linton. So with what the article says, the only way i can invest in those funds is through a SIPP pension?

Shame if it is as I want to invest in them, but not through a pension.

What the article is saying is you likely can't hold them through an ISA, due to the restrictions on investments that qualify for the special ISA tax breaks.

However, the tax benefits afforded to pensions have less restrictions - they are legally allowed a wider variety of holdings (subject to the platform, broker or pension trustee supporting them) including unquoted companies and direct commercial properties supported by mortgage etc - so you can hold more exotic stuff. So if you were willing to put them in a pension you could probably do that.

However if you do not need a tax wrapper at all you can just go and buy them from any broker that deals with NYSE ARCA exchange-traded products.

    Thanks Bowlhead.

So theoretically I could open a stock and shares account with HL alongside my ISA and just use that for the Global X funds?

Do you have any recommendations for the most cost effective brokers to use, the amount i will be investing is below 10K in total, so the HL account seems on the steep side for their share deal charges

No, as I said a few posts back, HL say you can invest in them directly, just like buying Apple or Microsoft. Just not in an ISA.

EDIT: Due to crosspost. For a small amount of these shares, why bother opening up another whole account to hold these in just to save about a fiver when you could open one up in HL alongside your HL ISA?

Second edit: I've found HL very responsive when it comes to signing the WBEN form you'll need to buy US shares.
