Tax credits: Hours worked or Hours paid for

Was looking for some info regarding WTC.
Do they calculate the 16 hours you have to work on the basis of actual hours worked or if say you have 1 shift where you are paid time and a half does that count towards the thresholds?
Seems to be a bot of a grey area as you could work 16 hours but get paid double time therefore earning twice as much.
Thanks in advance

The amount of WTC you get is dependant on what you earn plus you have to be working a minimum of 16 hours a weekOveractively underachieving for almost half a century0

Hours and income arent the same thing. 16hrs is 16hrs. You need to meet this criteria first.0

So would be ok to do 16 hours of work at double time and that would not put me over the limit?
Reason of asking as my payslip would show im paid for 32 hours even though i only worked 16 hours nightshift.0 -
tax credits are based on the full tax years' income...it would make no difference if they showed 32 hours @ £10 per hour or 16 hours @ £20 per hour0

Except if you did 32hours you'd also get the 30hr element.0

Nice one thank you for the replies.0
