Sec 75 on car hire deposit non refund?

Hi

Paid £200 deposit on vehicle hire from Capital Car Hire (Edinburgh) using Nationwide credit card.

Subsequently paid for hire (same credit card)/ hired vehicle / returned vehicle. Then was told refund would be forthcoming. Subsequently it is likely the company has gone under and still haven't recevied refund of deposit.

Have requested payment dispute form from Nationwide as intending to pursue a section 75.

Can anyone say if I am entitled / likely to get any refund of the £200 under sec 75, as I am not familiar with this area? What concerns me is that this was a deposit (service) and not a 'product', and will the company going under affect how this is viewed?

Don't want to end up getting begger all from the receivers.

(Note : there was no report of any damage by car hire when vehicle returned)

thanks

  • Yes you should be covered.
Continue to hassle Nationwide until they refund you and let them take it up with the receivers to get their share back.
