Do I have to claim within a certain timeframe?

My boyfriend cracked the screen on my iMac just over a year ago. We never got around to claiming for it at the time, but we want to now - is this allowed? We have just renewed our home insurance with a new provider and we are definitely covered for accidental damage, but we have only been with them for the last month. Does it matter that the accident happened when we weren't insured with them? TIA.

1) Your current insurer won't help
2) Read up in your policy docs (old policy) to see if there is a deadline for submitting claim0 -
And if you do submit a claim, tell the new insurer, as they may re-rate the premium for this year, or decline cover (if they wouldn't have accepted a new business with an A/D claim disclosed).0
