Monday, stand beside your HR person have a chat, then call HMRC. That gets you through HMRC security about your tax situation & you can then eavesdrop on your HR person's replies & yell "That's not what the P60 shows" or whatever seems needful

That's half the battle the company's I work for is leased to a national chain based in the channel islands and payroll is only accessible by email I do have a phone number but they never pick up., my HR just submits my hours which are all correct, she is just as frustrated over the whole thing as l am. The woman deserves a medal she feels so bad about it has offered to personally lend me money until this is sorted, not that I ever would.

You haven't really made it 100% clear if it was the P45 details which your employer has included in this tax years figures but assuming this is what's happened why isn't your employer simply removing this information so when they calculate your next wages/payslip it will be based solely on this tax years earnings?

I'm at a loss as to why you think HMRC need to be involved in this?

Because up to today. I didn't know that is what's happened, HMRC told me to get payroll to call them because that's not the only issue going on, so need payroll to talk them through what's happened so they can issue me a refund notice. I'm no longer sure what's going on, I'm not an accountant and need for them to start talking to each other and not me as I'm just relaying the conflicting information from both parties. And nothing is getting sorted.
  • Who do you think is going to issue a "refund notice" and do you actually know what that is?

There doesn't seem to be anything for HMRC to do and they certainly have nothing to send to your employer. From your previous posts it looks like you're likely to be on the correct tax code it's just that your employer needs to remove the pay and tax details from last years P45 from their payroll system so your tax is correct when they next calculate your wages (end of June pay?).

I haven't a clue, who issues refund notices, my problem was that work told me it was a HMRC issue and HMRC told me it was a payroll issue, thanks to Adolphin 10 and cr1mson part of the issue became clear into how the problem had arose, and was confirmed by the HMRC manager in now in contact with.
If you have a question about a plants or gardening people speak to me, if you have a question about tax issues you talk to a taxman, when your not sure how to sort a problem it's a safe bet that someone on here knows where to direct your queries.
