How to get HMRC issue resolved?

I've had multiple issues with HMRC over the years, that it's beginning to feel like a conspiracy
This time I started new employment on March 6th 2017 handed over my P45 so shouldn't of had any issues first pay was April 25th and I had £480 stoppages from a £900 paypacket, phoned HMRC and told it was the companies fault and a new tax code has been sent out, forward to May 25th paypacket saw me with £860 stoppages from a £1509 paypacket.
Just had an email from payroll saying this is a HMRC issue nothing to do with them so not looking good for this months pay due the 25th either.
I'm about to confuse matters further as I'm about to get paid from a second job BR tax code.
I'm not getting anywhere with HMRC helpline, and need to kick this up to someone to get this resolved as from this month I will be getting into credit card debt to keep the roof over our heads.
Anybody know what my next step is?

Ordinarily I'd say go to your MP, but you may want to email your candidates or just wait til Friday afternoon - it a bit depends on how serious the finances are.
Meanwhile, have you got an online HMRC tax account where you can see what they think you're doing, for whom, which can make straightening out glitches easier?
All the very best!0 -
I do have a gateway account so will have a look-see thank you DFV.
Something messed up seriously as I've just found a payment for £39 from tax credits I've not been eligible for two years for these, and this year is no different.so may have to go the MP route as I have no idea what's going on, I'm just PAYE my hours/pay is all adding up just the stoppages and nobody else in the company is having any issue so can't see it being a problem there end, I'm just getting sick of bouncing between work & tax man.0 -
Start with the tax code being used now and what tax code was on your P45: we might be able to make an educated guess about what's going on ...Signature removed for peace of mind0

Tax code on P45 was 1100L current tax code 1150L, we are now in contact with a HMRC manager who's only explanation is human error as the numbers don't stack up in any scenario, so it's back to payroll, so it's unlikely to be sorted by payday. I have to put the child tax credits aside for some reason it's only showed my income for the supermarket job I left before my current position which prompted a payment due to drop of income. Hopefully this should be an easy sort and I can shut down the ongoing claim once the paperwork turns up.
I'm told I should be paying £185pm in tax, which sounds about right and one phone call from payroll to HMRC should sort it, we will see.0 -
On your April payslip is your taxable pay for the month the same as the taxable pay ytd (year to date) I ask as it is possible that your p45 figures were included when they shouldn't have been as that was for the previous year0

Exactly my thoughts! Say you had earned £15000 in previous job but when your payroll processing that as 2016/17 earnings they put it down as 2017/18 so you will look like you have used up all your personal allowance.0 -
This is becoming idiotic, payroll got back to me saying they can't phone HMRC, due to data protection, the same as a HMRC said when I asked if they could phone to get this sorted, I'm already going to miss the wages cut off for this month, you are both right my last year's income has been added to this year.but the numbers still don't add up for that just to have happened as I never made the tax cut off in 2016/17 and I'm being taxed over 50% of my income, in currently working 48hrs a week for less than a £100. And I'm getting tired & teasy over the whole thing.0

Do you mean your new employer has mistakenly added your wages to March 2017 into your income for this tax year?
If so was this from the P45 you gave them? If it was then what it the date of employment ending on the P45 (should be on the copy you keep I think, part 1a)0 -
Monday, stand beside your HR person have a chat, then call HMRC. That gets you through HMRC security about your tax situation & you can then eavesdrop on your HR person's replies & yell "That's not what the P60 shows" or whatever seems needful.
You have bills to pay, an error has been made & it needs sorting but I fear you will have to work right alongside HR to get it sorted.
It is doable, so long as HR are ready to admit that an error may have happened, so make sure in your pre-call chat that that is acknowledged - and politely require your way up the management chain as needed to get that. Twice - once to you and once to HMRC.
Very best of luck & start with a fully charged & well credit loaded phone... Keep the box of biscuits as a thankyou for When It Is Sorted.0 -
Dated on P45 was 0ctober 9th 2016 new job offered Jan 11th 2017 to comermece on March 6th 2017 ( took a break between jobs no benefits or any taxable income during this time) l should have been paid a just over a weeks pay in the March but it was missed so was added to my April pay this is where the issue has started. Been downhill ever since.
In retrospect I should of just filled out new starter pack, but didn't give it any thought I was just asked for my P45 bank details and passport for right to work, so just handed over the paperwork I had.0
