Not so smart Meters

I've got a British Gas smart meter and find now that I'm moving to ToTo for my energy supplies that they can't read my meter remotely - I'll have to email them the figures monthly!

How crazy is that? Is this really true? All smart meters should be at least readable by any supplier. Or am I being fed some porky pies by my new supplier?

You should have waited a few years for SMETS2 to be rolled out. No such thing as a free lunch......

No. It will become a dumb meter so get use to reading the meter display, not the in house one but the actual meter itself.
For reasons why , as others have said search this forum for "smart meter"

It may be a bit of a pain to submit readings but it does help you to keep a good eye on your consumption.

As others have said on this forum it also helps should your meter stop displaying readings.

Also keep a spreadsheet as your own record.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill
