Buying in England. Sold in Scotland

Hi
Sorry to bother you all but I have just sold in Scotland and have had an offer accepted on a house in England. Both change over is planned for 1/8/17.
Can I ask the best way to go about this in most cost effective way?
The house I have bought is advertised via purple bricks and they have phoned me about surveys etc but I wondered if that was a reasonable way to go?
Thanks

Use the same conveyancer for both transactions. Make sure you choose one familiar with both the Scottish and English systems.
Not enough information provided to advise on whether to get a survey done or not. Ultimately, though, it's your choice anyway.0 -

It's not just a question of being familiar, if you want to use the same firm for both then you'll need to find one which practises in both jurisdictions. Those will tend to be the bigger more commercial firms, who might lower themselves to do residential conveyancing but at a price. Otherwise you can use separate firms, the only real disadvantage is the potential complication /delay of having to do a cross-border transfer of funds on the day of completion.0 -
Doubt it - there's a grand total of one solicitor in Carlisle who has a Scottish practising certificate (whose firm doesn't appear to offer Scottish residential conveyancing), and none in Berwick.Maybe solicitors near the border may be able to deal with both systems - Carlisle or Berwick for instance?0
