Switching nightmare, IRESA.
Has anyone had any problems with switching? I thought it was easy by all accounts.
I was with OVO and my 2 year plan ended so I went on MSE to compare and IRESA came up top. The thing which should have alerted me was that MSE could not do the switch for me.
I went through the process and then having arranged everything and given money up front to IRESA I was contacted by them to say OVO would not release my account. I rang OVO and they said it was not them, it was IRESA. I rang IRESA they said it was OVO. So back and forth I went over 2 months. Each phone call to IRESA took between 20 and 25 minutes for them to answer. Meanwhile IRESA had my 'up front money' but I was still paying OVO. Eventually the electricity went through to IRESA but not the gas. I rang the Citizens Advice number and they said that IRESA had been inundated after being voted by the Daily Mail as the cheapest supplier and their systems could not cope. Gas supply was the major issue. So I decided to leave electricity with IRESA and gas with OVO to sort things in the short term. Long phone calls and emails confirming this followed. Then IRESA started direct debiting me with DUEL fuel costs. I am still paying OVO for the gas. I am now paying nearly £500 for my energy and losing the will to live. IRESA does not understand and thinks I am still trying to switch to duel fuel. I have made it very clear. I have not heard back from them.
I now want to switch to a completely new company for duel fuel but having had my fingers burnt I am very anxious about not getting my money back from both companies.
What should I do now? Any advice gratefully received.
