Yes always use compatibles with my epsons and i have used epsons for years. I use the same source for these ( a company on ebay) I have used them for that many years i recently had to change my printer and i had 25 unused cartridges which would not fit my new printer and they offer to exchange these for inks to fit my new printer

...and I have found with my printer (Epson, Cannon might be different) leaving it switched on and just let it open and print when the computer sends it data uses far less ink from all the cartridges (six in this case). That is because powering up sends it through a routine that wastes ink! No problems with clogging either provided a page is printed every few weeks....

    Maybe worth a try?

want to keep an eye on the amount of ink in a cartridge/toner, use some cooking scale that can go down to 0.1 of a gram. They are relatively cheap these days. Obviously you are going to have to weight a full and empty cartridge to get the limits.
