Septic tank infilling

I've found it really difficult to find a rough cost of filling in a septic tank. It's currently filled with water so we've been instructed to fill for safety reasons.
Has anyone had this done and can give a rough cost? Should I expect £100, £500, £1000, more?

Whose instructed you to fill it?0

Ours has a lid (well 3 covers) why can't you secure those?
As above, who has told you to do this (and why).0 -
A surveyor that has look around the property. I know it could just be a surveyor wanting to cover their own back, but wanted to know the rough cost. There are likely to be young kids around the property so any safety concerns are obviously high on the agenda! Thanks in advance!0

I'm sure you'll find plenty of builders only too happy to fill it with rubble and other assorted building waste, but....
If the tank is in good order, it could be put to use - If the surface water drains were piped to the tank, you would have a fair amount of water that could be pumped out to irrigate the garden. The manhole covers could be replaced with bolt-down or even lockable lids if you were worried about inquisitive children falling in.Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
Filling with MOT Type 1 stone should be OK, 40mm or 75mm scalpings should be a bit cheaper but much of the cost will be labour dropping the material in. It should really be lean mix concrete and poured and pokered but this will cost a bit - depends on the tank size.
Do not put in builders rubble - who knows what would end up in there and also you will not be able to compact it.0
