14 plate Ford B-Max - Fault after 2 weeks!!!
Hi
Hoping there may be someone to give some advise!
I purchased a used Ford B-Max (14 plate) from my local major Ford dealer. I picked the car up on the 20/5. With the purchase I received 3 months warranty.
Nearly two weeks to the day of having the car the engine management light came(last Friday)……I called the dealership straight away and they advised to get the car to them straight away so they can diagnose the problem. The earliest they could get me is tomorrow (6/6).
If they diagnose the problem, and irrespective of what the problem is, will I be required to foot the bill for the diagnostics AND fixing? I know warranties don’t cover wear and tear, but seriously….i’ve had the car for 2 weeks, what kind of wear and tear can you do in two weeks?!!
I purchased this vehicle (Finance) from a well known reputable dealer as I needed a reliable car that wasn’t going to cost the earth to run AND fork out tons on repairs.
I’m gutted and petrified.
Any advice?

Maybe it's worth waiting to see what the dealer says before assuming they're going to present you with a big bill?
If they do, then you can worry about getting all het up about it. If they don't, happy days - your car is fixed and you can move on.0 -
Thanks, I am as a general rule, a worrier! I like to be prepared in case of bad news!!0

Hopefully it'll be recovered under the warranty, but wear & tear really relates to the overall age of the car, unrelated to how long you've had the car.0

When you have more details you might want to post a message on http://www.bmaxownersclub.co.uk/forum/
The automatic gearbox seems to have a bad reputation, I hope you haven't got one of those.0 -
No, manual gear box!
The light has since gone off, however it's still going in as they can still read the fault code.
Ever since its happened though it's been awfully noisy on acceleration and feels really sluggish. MPG has gone through the floor too.
It's a 1.5 diesel and considering it is a diesel it was EXTREMELY quiet which is why the noise is so noticeable. 0 -
Is it a low mileage diesel?0

It's done 49k in 3 years.0

Update!
Just got back from Ford. They whacked a diagnostic kit on it and returned a fault regarding the DPF. It wasn't blocked, but the sensor had reported a "low threshold". I was asked if I was doing short journeys and I told them I was doing around 50m a day and at least 30 minutes of this was doing (at least 70mph). They were surprised at this.
Anyhoo, they reset the code and took it for a blast and the tech said it sounded and ran like it was supposed to, and that the MPG should start to level itself out now the error has been removed. If it comes up again then take it back and they will sort it.
Nothing to pay! 0 -
Thanks for the update ... you see worrying doesn't solve anything!
Happy that you're sorted now & welcome to the Forum.0
