MPPI bought through a broker, can I claim?

Hi, new to all this ppi reclaim stuff, so wondering if anyone has any advice on the following? When we remortgaged with Nationwide in 2008 the mortgage advisor told us we had to have mppi to receive the mortgage. They told us we didn't have to get it through them so I went online and bought it with a broker and showed them as proof of insurance. We are still paying for this protection against unemployment and as it's over £33 per month, I am worried we are either paying unnecessarily or at the very least paying over the odds.
So, if we were advised badly, do we have a chance to claim (I understand verbal communication is not good evidence) and who would we claim with?
Any advice appreciated as I am rather baffled!!

Why do you think you were advised badly?

No. You can only complain about a wrongdoing if you purchased it through the agency of the company. You chose not to and bought online. By doing so, your consumer protection was reduced.
and who would we claim with?

No-one. By going DIY you cannot complain about poor advice.

  • Thank you for your reply. I understand completely. I think we may stop this insurance, as other half would get redundancy package if suddenly unemployed and does get sick pay.

Your choice to cancel , but note that a redundancy package is never guaranteed.
