I appreciate this is nothing to do with money saving etc however i would be grateful if anybody could advise me please.....

Fairly new car - on a pcp.....was in a rush for an appointment and found that a bird had decided to relieve itself over my car - covered in it and the warm weather had baked it onto my car. No matter how much i wet the car it wouldn't budge and being late and being a woman i decided to give it a good old scrub.

I can hardly believe what i have done....there are dull patches on the bonnet. It has metallic paint and was treated with supergard. In my view its not bad enough to get it looked at professionally (unless i was to sell it or hand it back) but I do not have a clue what i should i try. i know nothing about cars and bodywork and all i can think of trying is perhaps some polish? or wax?

Apart from reinforcing how stupid i have been could anybody advise what i should try to do please.

Thank you

Yeah, a good rub with some polish should sort it.

Before trying any polishes with a high degree of cutting first give it a go with some Autoglym Super Resin Polish (SRP) using a correct polishing cloth or microfiber applicator. If this helps then top the area off with some wax or a sealant.

Next time you get any bird poop the best way to shift it is lay a piece of kitchen towel on the area and soak it with either warm water, or preferably some quick detailer, and leave it for while. Then come back and you should be able to just rinse the area away.

get some of this stuff to remove all the scratches you will have caused

Will take a bit of elbow grease, but will give a good result.

This works really well, and requires no effort.

I live by the sea and am plagued with seagull droppings on the car. I find a spray of insect remover, followed by plenty of water, usually does the trick.
