  • Obviously community grants for furnishings no longer happen. However council's themselves now have schemes where they will give money for basic furniture. Itsw not much but it is something. I would phone housing and ask what the scheme your local council runs is called. You will need your CPN to sign the form as well, affirming your situation.

    Unfortunately social workers and CPNs often don't look at this side of things, or don't know so they may not always be a lot of help.

    If you give the name of your council, I might be able to find a page online that tells you what you need to do. For my borough I typed in Essential furniture help with the name of the borough and came up with this https://www.kent.gov.uk/social-care-and-health/care-and-support/benefits/home-essentials-in-a-crisis#tab-2

    You could ask for a community care assessment too, or ask for Social work help to get you over this temporary hump. You could also try your MP. Emailing them can often get a quick reply.

    Well done for coming how far you have. I can only imagine how difficult it is.
