I've bought some concert tickets via a credit card. I'd really like to close the account, but what happens if the concert is cancelled or something .... how will the money be returned to me? This could be months down the line.

    Is section ??? section 75?

You would still be able to claim under section 75 (if you had a valid claim). But you would make your life easier by leaving your account open.

A refund from the gig provider would certainly be made easier by having an open account.

Any reason you so desperately want to close it?

Just want to close it, so I'm not tempted to spend.

I'll cut it up and put a note in my diary to close the account after the gigs.

You cant really close it. This is a myth, it doesn't really close until it's expiry date.

People find this out the hard way when they have recurring payments charged to what they thought were closed accounts.

The same would happen here, the refund would go back to the card and you can have the CC send you a cheque
