Using same NCD on overlapping policies

I know you can't generally use the same NCD on more than one vehicle, but would it in practice cause any problem to use it on two policies from different insurers that overlap by 24 hours on the day I change vehicles? (Hypothetical as yet as I haven't decided whether to change insurers)

It would be up to the new insurer to decide.

Explain the situation before you buy and if they are happy ask them to confirm it back to you in writing

My thinking had been that by the time the new insurer asked for evidence of NCD I'd have cancelled the old policy, so they wouldn't know about the overlap. Plan is to sell old car for scrap on the same day and shortly before collecting the new one. Overlap simply saves me worrying about what time of day the new policy needs to start.

Speak to them first, we had no problems starting the new policy the day before the old one expired. But longer than that they may not allow it.

Its not when you can show them thr proof its the fact your claims was already in use and if you dont tell them they can add a premium on.

xx days cover with zero no claims ££ + admin fee to change it to xx years no claims.

Can't you just have the new policy start 24 hours later?
