Computer slow to carry out commands

Hi Folks

After pretty much a trouble free year on my (Windows 10) computer I suddenly have a problem I cannot deal with.

If I access a folder (let us say "documents") and then I right click with the mouse to create a new folder within documents. Nothing appears to happen. But then when I exit the folder and then open it again, I find that the new folder has actually been created.

The same thing happens with other commands like delete, copy and paste. I try and delete a file or copy and paste and nothing happens. I exit the folder and then access it again and find that the commands have been carried out.

I have done the usual antivirus and malware checks and cleared out unwanted programs and files but nothing is coming up as a virus.

    Do this test :

Create the folder in the manner you describe, and then instead of exiting the folder and coming back in ,
just press F5 .. Does that make it appear ?

In Windows Explorer: choose View -> Option > Click the Search tab > Check or uncheck ANY option
    Apply.
If this solves your problem, you can revert to your original setting and the problem will remain solved.

Yes: You nailed it Andy. F5 does the trick.

I will try the other solution later.

    Many thanks.

Just done all that and all is working perfectly again :) Since I have had Win 10 I have never had to reformat and re-install the o/s. (Thought I might have to this time). But what a relief I don't have to do that. Thanks again Andy.
