Painting walls in one room - £250

Hi,
I need to get the walls in one room painted. The size is 3.6 x 2.6m and height is 2.3m. I will supply the paint. The quote given by a decorator is £250 including labour and any material besides the paint, one day's work. This is in outer London.
I have never had any painting work done at all, so I have nothing to go by. Please, any thoughts whether this seems reasonable?
Thanks in advance.

Sounds expensive to me. OK , I'm not near London but, I had hall stairs and landing wallpaper stripped, walls made good, lining paper applied., walls and ceiling painted, all gloss work painted i.e skirtings and 6 door frames . Two coats of emulsion to walls and ceiling for £750. Decorator supplied all materials. Four days work and he made a good job of it.0

Paintings one of the things you could probably tackle yourself. £250 seems a lot really for one day:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one :beer::beer:0

I run a property maintenance company and have decorators working for me. We're based in Outer London/Essex borders
We allow 2 days per room (typically its a day and a half, but the second day has to be fully charged). The reason 2 days are allowed is for drying time so that the gloss work can be done without bleeding into colours and you get a decent finish. I price my guys out from £150 a day plus VAT.
So the price is right for 2 days work for a self employed non vat payer. However, I would be very concerned that he is doing it in a day. And £250 a day for a decorator is top heavy.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
Thanks for your thoughts. I've got another decorator with good reviews who's given me a quote of £150. Starting at 7 tomorrow morning.
Thanks again0
