Hello
I've been on here a few years now , I managed to get out of debt To get a mortgage for our lovely house .
I was so determined I would never get a loan again  Now here I am £20,571.58 in debt again and that's without the mortgage
I don't know how i'm going to move forward at this point in time but I know I have to .
I work full time and at the end of the month I'm lucky to have £100 to myself which I normally just end up buying things we need for the house/garden/car etc I never buy anything for me - totally my own doing I know .
I suffer from anxiety and depression , I get soo overwhelmed so quickly hence I tend to sign up for challenges then drop off ...
I had a little win last month got my pet insurance down from £37 a month to just under £6 :T
I live with my o/h and dog who is 9 bless her
As I said I get overwhelmed so easy ,so not going to post a S.O.A right now I do have a ridiculous £50 a month phone contract that o/h talked me into getting - I had a £7 a month sim only before that but he convinced me to get a contract phone
I think maybe I need to start a spending diary ? I'm not worried about my grocery bill as only spend about £100 a month
P.s I will keep looking and reading on boards if I don't answer straight away it's because o/h doesn't like people knowing about our debts etc so won't be telling him about this little diary

Welcome back
I too suffer from anxiety and other MH issues. I will be following and cheering you on from the sidelines.
I understand you don't want to post a soa but the same things apply. Is the budget realistic? Does it actually say what you have left over at the end of the month? Do you have that left? If not then yes a spending diary 100% will help. You'll see where you're overspending and where you can cut back.
Can you cut down your Tv/broadband packages? Checked youre on the best utility tariffs?
Are you paying interest? Check the snowball calculator which to concentrate on first.
Good luck0 -
Thankyou Hidden
I can certainly use your cheering !
We have got sky o/h deals with getting us the deals on that as I am useless trying to get anything at a better price
We do our budget every month have just got a deal for gas and electric for £72 a month which I don't think is too bad ?
My wages change every month but on average it is about £100 I have left - just not sure where this goes
I normally leave my petrol money in bank £150)but had to transfer some pennies to my o/h so he gave me cash , also have done a really good shop both freezers are jam packed :j so have got just under £130 to last me for everything til end of month
I do the penny challenge but am a little behind at the minute but apart from that today should be a NSD :j
Thankyou for advice about spending diary , going to get straight on it

Good morning
I'm starting the day with £128.29 in my purse as I said this is for everything so starting my little spending diary on here as if I write on here i'm less likely to embarrass myself by spending money on carp lol .
Penny challenge £1.38 (i'm a little behind ) now I have £126.91 left in my purse , this is my savings for Christmas I did this last year and it helped take a lot of the stress out of it
Been talking a lot lately about starting a business(cafe) in about 6 years time when my o/h stops paying child maintenance and we are out of debt - A girl can dream !
Just noticed I need to update my sig !
Have a lovely day everyone

What's the penny challenge?0 -
I started doing the penny challenge last year towards :xmastree:
you start by saving a penny on the 1st of January 2p on 2nd of January and so on at the end of the year it adds upto over £600 :j
I'm a little behind at minute ,think i'm up to about the 18th of May
Just saved some pennies ,went to the shop to buy mags and enter comps but couldn't get parked !

Just been to petrol station then to shop so I have spent
£20 petrol
95p garlic naan
£1.99 dessicated coconut (expensive? I think)
26p 12 reduced pittas for freezer
35p yogurts - value
£2.64 on 3 magazines (I buy these to enter comps as well as enter online for free ) sis recently won £200 and we share if we win
So I now have £101.22 to last til 28th of june
The naan and the coconut is for a homemade beef curry I do in slowcooker every Saturday - we used to spend about £15 on a takeaway curry so saving money there and the coconut will last about 3 months worth of curries

I have subb'd
The one and only thing that got me into living within my means was YNAB, aka you need a budget. I have managed for a few months now not to overspend which for me is amazing. I hit LBM this month and now I want to tackle the debt not just "get by."
YNAB is overwhelming as it forces you to absolutely see every penny spent and you realise why you are in this mess but it is so good.
If you do join please use my referral haha and also take all of the classes here:
https://www.youneedabudget.com/classes/
If like me you spend every penny on credit card and that's how you accumulated cc1 and cc2 debt this is amazing, as it means you have accountability over every penny no matter where it is spent. If I spend £10 on a cc YNAB knows, and i budget for it... So I can then pay in full.LBM: £29517.61 June 2017 DFD: DEC 2021 Total Paid 76.80/29517.69
Barclays 76.80/13267.92 Loan: 0/8649.69 MBNA: 0/76000 -
Also RE the £50 phone contract, that can be your treat. As long as you use it a lot, it has value. Just ensure you budget for it in your plan.
I always say, focus on what you can control... The £50 phone bill is out of your control now (as locked in contract), hence do not worry about that.
Focus on the changes you can control today and be at peace with your past decisions where they cannot be changed.LBM: £29517.61 June 2017 DFD: DEC 2021 Total Paid 76.80/29517.69

Thankyou Jamie
I will have a look at ynab when I have some time , Is it easy to do ?
Good advice re phone contract - there's nothing I can do now so I will make my peace with that and I do use my phone quite a bit for online banking among other things , as soon as I can go for a sim only deal though I will .
Today I started the day with £101.22
I was asked to do an early shift which saves me £3 bus fare (I can get parked at work on early's) so will use that towards my penny challengeso I now have £98.22 to last me until the 28th of June

Good morning
So did something silly last night o/h asked me if I wanted to go £10 each on online bingo and instead of saying no like I should have I said yes  (we won £12 will put on later fingers crossed)
.so my money is now at £88.22 and will also have some more spends today, bus fares and need some bits of shopping will update later .
Also drank 6 cans of o/h lager as I did the night before so he wants me to buy some back ( he's in same situation as me )
I need to stop drinking too ! so new goals
1) Stop spending on rubbish (after buying o/h his beer back)
2)stop drinking
3) lose weight
4)pay debt
5)have some savings !! (managed to save 4g in my younger days)
6)start reading - have lots of books to read , I love reading and it's free (friend gives me her books when she's finished with them and I buy her a brekkie ,when we meet up
