Hello,
Is there something you can buy which wirelessly enables you to extend a downstairs socket to upstairs? Probably just like a pair of cordless phones except that the upstairs end would just be a telephone socket rather than another phone?
thanks

Dont know about wirelessly.
Get some phone cable, some of the pins and pin it to the skirting board up the stairs, up over and down door frames and into the room needed and get a faceplate put on.
This should do above job

Depends on how much cable etc you need as to whether its worth doing.
Something like this might be what you need

OP, if it's for your internet, you can buy plug in devices that basically send the signal round your leccy network. I have a couple of TP-Link adaptors which work well and not caused any issues. I think there may be some that can cause interference, but the ones I have mean we can have our office upstairs in the spare room and get about 90% broadband speed, compared to about 25% wirelessly. They are fairly cheap for a pair - you plug one in downstairs, plug your cable from the router into it, and plug the other in upstairs and connect your computer cable into that.0

I have the same and they do work very well. I also have a wireless one, plugged into the mains socket in the garden shed, which enables me to extend the network out into the garden (sad, I know!).
However, I believe that the OP was referring to extending telephone sockets.
As you say, they work well for extending the ethernet, but would not work for extending a telephone line.0
