My partner and I are trying to find Life Insurance, Critical Illness cover and Income protection cover for us both. The problem we are facing is that I have diabetes and we are trying to get Income protection. Does anyone have any recommendations for this?

Have you spoken to a broker?
There are some insurers who will cover diabetics in certain circumstances.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Stuc, if you don't mind, could you provide a little more information - for example, how long you have had diabetes and your age?
Most insurers will offer life cover to diabetics and Royal London and Exeter Friendly recently launched products specifically aimed at diabetic customers.
Due to the nature of diabetes it might be more problematic securing income protection or critical illness.0 -
As far as I'm aware (and it's an area I specialise in) no current providers offer critical illness or long term income protection for clients with diabetes. Friends Provident and more recently Friends Life could in the past but neither of those providers is available on the open market now due to various mergers.
It is possible to arrange short term income protection, the type which was formerly known as Accident, Sickness & Unemployment cover, just without tagging on the unemployment element. These plans do come with certain caveats although the best will cover any illness relating to diabetes once the policy has been in force for a minimum of 12-months.
Speak to an independent protection specialist and they should be able to assist.0 -
If you are getting declined - you could try Pulse Insurance. They specialise in cover for those with medical conditions.I am just thinking out loud - nothing I say should be relied upon!
I do however reserve the right to be correct by accident.0
