Flashed by a German speed camera (hire car)

I was driving along the Autobahn last Saturday on my way to the airport and must not have noticed a change in speed limit on their managed motorway like signs.

I've done my research and the fine will more than likely get passed onto the hire firm and they'll charge it to my credit card with an admin fee slapped on top, which isn't an issue as I accept full responsibility for this mistake. Although a week later and I haven't heard anything, and the initial deposit on hold from my card has been returned a day or two ago.

In the UK, they usually give two weeks to receive the fine through the post. However, with this being abroad, and through a hire company, how long is my waiting period? Also would this add points to my UK licence?

Has anybody had any previous experience with this?

Clearly not conclusive but I got flashed by a speed camera in Bremen on my way back to the airport, in a hire car and didn't hear any more about it. Think you'll just have to wait and see what happens, keep an eye on your credit card statements etc.

As far as I can see there is no provision for points to be added to your UK licence from camera detected offences.

Not direct experience but I've seen reports of months, it has to wend its way from the authorities to the car hire company through to the right department to charge you through to you.

Yeah I've heard it could take a month, well I'll give it up to four weeks and then ease off thinking and worrying about it just slightly :)

You cannot get points on your GB licence for an offence outside GB. Even bans are only recognised here if they're imposed in a very limited number of countries (from memory Ireland, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands, Isle of Man and Gibraltar). So they can give you points on your (hypothetical) German licence, or even ban you from driving in Germany, but it won't affect your right to drive in the UK in any way.

No idea how long it will take for you to hear I'm afraid.
