Hi alll
My second post on PPI tonight. Thought it best to keep things separate. Shop Direct have contacted me by letter today to confirm that I had PPI in the form of something called "Extra Care 500" going back to 2002. They are looking into it and I have a form to fill out to provide further details (despite already supplying all these details via Resolver).
Whilst I remember having a random charge on the account (hence the claim), I don't remember asking for it or being sold it and have no idea whether this Extra Care was something that was applied to the whole account for the duration of the account being opened (now closed)or whether it was applied for something particular that I purchased.
Does anyone know what this PPI related to and are there any successes with reclaiming?

The PPI is related to a catalogue, and I don't know. They weren't regulated, they may or they may not refund, you'll have to wait and see.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

Someone here may know what this insurance was for, whether it was something that Littlewoods applied to a whole account or whether it was specific to something I ordered. If someone else has had this type of insurance they would know this?0

Dear LeSquigh
The insurance was to cover the balance of your account if you were unable to make the repayments due to sickness, unemployment etc.
I am not sure how this was applied, e.g was it automatic or was it on request of the consumer? Do you have copy of the policy as I do not and I normally keep everything.
I had a pre existing condition at the time and would not have been able to claim so I do think this was misold, I am still not sure how this was taken out and Littlewoods say it was there sales process whatever that means I don't know. I cannot find any policy and I have racked my brains as to how it all came about.
I had wrote numerous letters to shop direct and they were very evasive with the information and not helpful at all, in the end I got a long winded letter basically saying that they have no evidence that I would not have benefited from the insurance, I don't even know what the payout would have been. I am sure that I would have been able to afford the repayments as the balance was never that high.
It is now with the ombudsman0 -
You'll be lucky to get anything from the mbudsman if it was sold prior to 2005.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

Hello,
Recently I received a letter from Shop Direct Finance about Extra Care 500 and another type of insurance - anyway, I filled out the form and sent it back, then in November I received a reply telling me that they have recognised two separate accounts, one with Extra Care 500 and another with a different insurance (can’t remember what it’s called)
Today, I contacted them by phone for an update and they told me it’s currently with the re-dress department (what does that mean?) he also told me that the insurance was from 2002-2014 but if there was debt owing (which there probably was) then they will take that off any payments owed.Regards,
Paul

The redress (rather than getting re-dressed) department calculate any refund owed.0

Thanks. I assume there’s a refund owing then? Presumably they would have just declined otherwise? He couldn’t tell me what the monthly payments were for this insuranceRegards,
Paul

It sounds like they've upheld your complaint.
The customer services agent won't be able to tell you that level of detail.0 -

Barclays dealt with my Littlewoods extra care insurance complaint.
I could remember that a rep from the catalogue who telephoned me at home in 2003 to sell this policy. It was upheld0
