DX delivery and the redirected parcels

This is strange.
At the end of last year I ordered some plants with an estimated delivery for this week.
I got a notice they were being delivered on 2/6/17, so i prepared pots and containers ready to plant these up as soon as they arrived, but ran out of compost, so nipped out to get some.
While i was out the parcel arrived and my father signed for it.
so when i returned my father said the plants had arrived and gave me to box. the first thing i noticed was no mention on the box of live plants which is normally printed on the box of plants, so i opened the box to find not plants, but a Nikon Camera ( so obvious a mix up at the courier end as cant see a nursery sending me a camera), so called the local DX depot and after explaining he going to check, he come back and said so that is where it is ( apparently they had been contacted by another customer who was missing a Nikon Camera), so they said they would collect this on Monday, but no idea where my plants were, but he would contact me when they find them.
So today i get a call from DX to say they located my plants and they were at another address in my town as the wrong label had been placed on them, they were then willing to give me the address of where they were so i could go and collect them.
I refused and said that would be a breach of the Data Protection Act, Oh then we will send someone to collect them on Monday and you will have them on Tuesday. i asked why could the driver not collect them and then just deliver them to me as in the same town, but i was told sorry he cant do that the parcel has to be returned to the depot and have a new label attached and then scheduled on the next delivery. I said by then the live plants will be dead plants. I asked for a reference number, so i could contact the sender and in case they needed to contact DX about this.
I called the nursery and they laughed when i told them. I gave them the ref number for DX and then told me they would call them and then call me back. 15 minutes later the nursery called me back and said they would send new plants out which i should get Tuesday as they wont dispatch them until Monday and if the other arrive i could keep them if any are still alive

I'm not sure what the strange part is, or whether this is any of praise, vent or warning. At least you'll be getting replacement plants, which is the important bit.

Strange that i got a camera rather than plants, i think someone at the starting hub needs more training to make sure the correct labels are placed on the correct parcel

Was your address was on the camera Parcel?

If yes, then not the courier's fault.
I f no, why did your father accept the parcel?

Yes our address on the camera package and DX do the same as DPD they print the labels and attach them at the depot.
so this was a courier issue

That's all very nice but perhaps you could have been a cooperativeparcel/person rather than an angry one? Now you're waiting over a week completely through your own doing.

You would have at least got some plants if you tried to be nice and the garden centre would have resent any dead ones.

i have been nice, i called the nursery and they laughed because instead of their plants i got someones camera and as they have the contract with DX, i gave them the DX ref i was given, so when they called then DX could bring up the conversation i had with them.
I never showed any anger, new plants are being sent to me. DX would be breaking the Data Protection Act if they gave me the name and address to where they delivered the plants too, also if a stranger come to your door and said you have my plants. would you just hand them over I bet not

If/when the original plants turn up with you, give planting them a go. (unless of course, the nursery who supplied them wants them back).

I ordered some chili plant seedlings a couple of years ago and they got delayed in the delivery process and when they finally arrived 8 days after they should, they had shrivelled up and looked dead.
After repotting and watering them, 5 out of the 6 plants fully recovered.

The nursery dont want then back, they told me to just dispose of them, they called me earlier today saying they are sending new plants via DPD for delivery tomorrow.

Yes would have tried planting anyway, only made contact as i had someones camera and then contacted nursery to let them know as they are paying the courier to deliver plants which they are not doing.
