The LL is frankly talking 5h1te.

Way more information needed i'm afraid. Mainly because that would dictate any given template.

Have they exchanged on their purchase yet?

It's not a good idea to give notice until they have.

Because a rental period is not dictated by when the owner sells the property.

Look, i'm no expert and others will advise to a greater detail but you do need to clarify the finer details to get a meaningful answer.

    Contract type etc....

Its not the owner selling the property, never said it was
Its the renter buying not LL selling

    I would imagine contract type.

I'm not being obtuse (for a change)

Well i do know she has been to the office and spoke to them because its not through a letting agent, the house belongs to an "estate" and they own the whole village and more, its more complicated as normal as it wasnt her tenancy to begin with , it was her husbands but he passed away suddenly 18 months ago
She obviously went to see them then, didnt sign new contract as far as i am aware, but they said she could stay there, he had been there 15 yrs.
She has since been to see them at the estate office , to tell them she would be moving but would she be able to over lap if needs be? as she was looking end of june for completion .
They said yes but you need to give notice on 5th June
This is all i know at the moment and know she is not about to get hold of just now
