Hi everyone,
I read this site almost every day and you all fascinate and educate me in so many ways.
Me and my husband are seriously in debt that has built for the last five years. Our son was born and the hospital kindly decided to turn him to an extra-special boy by giving him brain damage (sorry to sound so flippant but sometimes it actually helps!), hubby had a breakdown and for a year we kind of didn't function. At the end of that year (and a very dark tunnel) we woke up and realised that we weren't doing too good financially. We did what you try to do and did the consolidation loans etc etc but then that made things worse especially as hubby is self-employed and the work dried up when the borders opened.
Now that things are back on an even keel we've contacted the CCCS and have sent out all the stuff that they provided (fab people) and we're waiting for the responses to trickle in.
We're not running away from our problems and want to pay but Freemans - who are the smallest debt - told me today that they don't recognise what we've sent as it's not from an official third party??!!!!
According to them they've disregarded some of our expenses too (that £30 a month for clothes and shoes must've been far too excessive!) in accordance with the British Banking Association regs.
They're sending me a letter outlining all this but it all seems a bit wrong to me - does anyone know what they're on about as no other company has said this to me.

Hiya Sam and welcome. You didn't sound flippant, what you said about him being an extra special boy was actually quite moving.
My first reaction to this was, you have enough on your plate without having to deal with this load of rubbish from Freemans - give whatever you receive from them to the CCCS and ask them to try and sort it out.
If you do want to post your SOA on here though, we will happily have a look through it to see if there are any areas that could be trimmed a bit.
The early stages of a dmp are quite often a bit hard going, but things will settle down soon. Just keep going, you'll get there.
Take care

Thank you snaggles - fab piccy by the way, I must learn how to add those things.
I know what you mean about hard going but I actually feel able to do this and to take a little bit of control back if you know what I mean. Also it makes me feel useful and gets the brain going.
I will post out SOA on here to see if you can all help, which I'm sure you will, and I'll state what we've offered to everyone too.
I'll be back!:beer:I am what I am - in debt and dealing with it!!!!!!!:A

Hiya Sam,
Welcome to the boards *hugs*
Right .... down to business there was a post on here last week about amounts people 'should' be allowed to put down as expenses with SOA .. think rayday may of posted it (I'll have a look and come back).
As for Freemans saying they only deal with third parties thats a load of old tosh to throw you off track, I run my own DMP and have never heard anything like that. Are they part of Shop Direct Financial Services, if so make sure you write to them and not Freemans!
Off to look for that post, I'll be back (how Arnie haha)0 -
I was with CCCS 2 years ago and Freemans were one of my creditors ~ sounds like they are having you on!Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0

Ah thanks guys, making me feel welcome and giving advice - glad I've joined in!
I'm gonna check about who Freemans are part of I thought they were their own people so that's interesting. Talk to the organ grinder an all that.....
Now off to enjoy my evening having to watch Arsenal (hubbie's team I'm Spurs and yes I do know the offside rule) before making him switch to CSI. Cancelled the multi room Sky package to save money and now argue instead - ha ha
Where did I put my wine glass...........:rotfl:

hi there
Agree with others ref Freemans, CCCS ARE an official third party, sounds like you have been written to by a right wally.
ERm not sure how to phrase this, but will the hospital be compensating you for your trauma, ie this would help with the debt etc, which they effectively caused....
sorry if I offend, I really don't mean to
