I have had success with both Nitromors and using a heat gun to remove gloss paint. No time to google them for you, you'll have to do that for yourself.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230

Best for results is a hot air paint gun and a stripping knife/blade

Paint stripping liquids next but messy and not very good

But why bother, just rub down the surfaces with glasspaper for a smooth finish and repaint with a good waterbased gloss paint0 -
Rather than "nitromors" (horrible stuff), if you can find it "Biostrip" is pretty good and much more pleasant to work with as it's not basically an acid.
We stumbled onto it because a friend got a sample for model making of all things (it's used to strip acrylic paints off models without harming the plastic/metal or glues), and was far more impressed with it than the normal things he'd tried.
We've used it on old skirting and tiles and it works pretty well, they recommend painting it on and leaving it for a while but we found if you painted it on then covered it with some cling overnight it works even better.
IIRC it's about £8 for 500ml, although you can buy it in other quantities as well.0 -
Please be very careful with the heatgun. Friend of mine has ended up in the hospital with the lead poisoning after a vigorous removal of the old type paint.0

Unless the skirting is period, I'd replace it - it's quicker! Normally I just sand and repaint.0
