Ambivalent Sky! Help!

Hello all,

So I cancelled everything from Sky - £122 a month. Got the spiel about the Q box etc. how great Sky is compared an all that and got offered £9 off or something.

I cancelled and the went ahead then today I got a call saying if they could do anything, the guy was not even logged unto my account. They just said I'll take you off the call list.

Rang a bit later to do something neutral cancel marketing leaflets ... they said fine.

Wondering why they are not calling with an offer???

My area has no fiber optics so difficult to watch through internet but this will be active within 6 months.

I'm thinking of any options!! Don't really want to be without sports but was thinking just go with Now TV or Plusnet for monthly contract broadband and free view or free sat.

Been with Sky for about 15 years - why would they make such a stupid call from an uninterested person to say they wnt call again.

Cancelled a week ago.

    Why did they said they would 'take you off the call list'? What did you say to them?

    Also, if you have spoken to them and said you don't want anymore marketing, they won't be able to contact you. You've chosen to opt out of contact.

    Having said that, have you checked the app, website and box for offers? They usually appear in one of the three places.

    They rang asked about the cancellation, said they don't have access to my account as I asked them to check the previous offers - then they said ok I'll just take you off the list!

    Website offers are for new people, I may need to get the app and don't know what the 'box' is?

    I actually rang more as a complaint - seems they don't really care!

    Looking at alternatives now or what's best...

    Why are you complaining? You wished to stop Sky, they are doing as asked.

    Log in, got to my offers. They are not for new customers.

  • @giraffe - I was following advice from here about cancelling to get a better deal ... maybe their 'quota' ran out

    Was just wondering why they bothered to ring make small talk then VOLUNTEER THEMSELVES to keep me off their list

    General attitude was very 'I don't give a !!!!!'

    If you have been with Sky 15 years and never negotiated a better deal then the offers won't come immediately. You need to be patient as Sky will think you will cave before the 30 days is up.

    The problem you have now is you have removed yourself form marketing, which means they cannot contact you anyway.

    The front line staff can never match the good offers, so if you reject their offer then they won't care about you. They have tried their best and can't keep you, so they will move on to the next customer rather than waste time when they can't win you round.

    Thanks for the tip! Didn't ever use the box or app so I can see 50% offer but still need improvement as don't need all channels

    In the past I negotiated a great offer that gave extra boxes and discount but that was years ago

    I feel like 'complaining' again through Live Chat as to why I wasn't informed of the 50% and only offered a tender off...then talk about incorporating 50% (or more) off, the Q box, and Sky broadband to be upgraded to Fibreoptics in 6 months at no extra cost (£10 pm currently)

    Thank you so much for your help I would never have noticed this otherwise!

    Cancelled, 50% off in mysky, today a phone call saying the same stuff, refused offer and now waiting for a better offer.

    I can go on Live Chat, amend my package and take the 50% off deal.

    You mean you will amend your package in Live chat and get 50% off that simultaneously?

    But even then you will reject 50% off for a better offer??

    I assume tongue in cheek there ;)

    Sky are a business. Of course it's in their interests to take the most amount of money from you. So if they could get you to renew with only £10 off, that's much better for them!

    Also, it probably WAS the most the person you spoke to could offer. As I said, frontline staff have very limited scope for offers. The good offers start to come after you have put in your notice, as you are seeing now.
