My partner doesnt exist! Help!

Hello,

I am helping my partner to apply for a credit card and wanted to check out his credit file to see what is on there/to use the MSE credit check tool before actually applying as i know a rejection could have a negative impact however .... he does not exist! I have tried noddle, experian, clearscore etc. Nobody can find his details.

He moved around a fair bit (he is 26), has about 5 previous addresses (his parents did buy-to-sell then buy-to-lets so they kinda moved where the houses were). We traveled Australia for 10 months then moved in together Aug 2016. I have added him onto the electoral role recently... but don't think this has gone through yet. Could this be why he doesn't exist?

He has only ever had a phone contract and uses his arranged overdraft with his bank .. never had loans/Credit cards etc.

What can we do to solve this/to build up a credit file ready for applying for a credit card (he needs to buy a car) ? Ideally needs the credit card within the next 4-6 weeks.

Probably nothing within that timeframe.

Have you raised a query/complaint with each of the CRAs?

Yes. What are the best things we can do moving forward? I dont want him to get rejected for the credit card. Hopefully, changing electoral role has helped when it is confirmed?

You're worrying about a rejection that won't show on his credit file. Only a search.

He could try one of the sub prime cards.

I dont understand, a rejection will not affect him then (if he DID get rejected for CC)

His file will show that he made an application for credit. Nothing more.

Multiple applications could be interpreted by lenders as desperation, but one is not an issue.
