Van insurance refuse to return money

This probably never happened to any of you but my van insurance just refused to insure me and refuse to give back the money (£1867).
The reason is because I didn't mention the fact someone made a claim against me last year. Didn't think it mattered because it was a some ******** claim even the inspector thought that. It is in their booklet that anything don't get mentioned they can keep my money.
Is there anything I can do about it? I feel it's very harsh as I didn't make any claim and the claim made against me was false

What does it say in your terms and conditions regarding refund?
What ever the inspector or you think about the claim, a claim is a claim and will be on the insurers database. Lying about it or failure to disclose is a breach of contract you signed, you read them right?
you can make an official complaint if you want, however more concerning is now you have a cancelled insurance on file and which you will need to declare when ever you apply for insurance and lead to higher premiums or declined cover."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Why did you not inform your insurers about the claim?
You would have been asked whether you have been involved in any incidents, whether they resulted in a claim or not.
The insurer will look at the reasons that you have not disclosed the claim and, if it was deliberate / reckless, then they are entitled to void the policy and keep the premiums.0
