Hi Guys,
Just recently upgraded my main pc so that it now has mirrored drives but now looking at external storage if that should fail.
I am looking for 1TB external storage with connection to my main box via external SATA but connection to my another two pc's would be via a network connection.
Also, what software do people recommend for backing up to an external drive.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated

You want to review some Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices, which can run over a network connection, there are plenty on the market from all manner of manufacturers: Iomega and LaCie to name a couple. Some with RAID configuration to add safety, do a Google or have a look at some reviews at PC Pro.
Backup software, it depends if you want to clone/copy everything on your machine or run regular backups, if so Acronis True Image is one of the best.
If you want sync files between machines, then there are other packages which are good, including the free SyncToy from Microsoft.0 -
You can get 20% off Acronis True Image 11 by going to Software Discount Codes. They also have various other discounts on backup software, personally I find Paragon Drive Backup to be really good and use it to back up both my PCs. Paragon have personal and business versions.Andy J0

Disk Wizard can be downloaded for free from the Seagate website and it's basically a rebranded version of Acronis True Image. In theory you should only download it if you have a Seagate or Maxtor hard drive but it may be worth downloading it to try and see if it works.

SVP have a dual disc unbranded NAS box for around £60 odd plus they £5 off orders over £50 via Google checkou. They have a version for sata and one for ide drives.
They mention the manaufacturer in the description even though it's unbranded and have a link to teh firmware update to allow 500Gb drives. It seems to have usb as well but never seen or tried one so can't comment on it's reliability.
