mgmt agents for property I sold still chasing me for ground rent

Hopeful straight forward, but I moved out on 14th March and I got a final demand redirected to my current address to for ground rent and service charge. Unfortunately the 7 days has long since passed and its gone to debt collection.

I contacted the agents who said the buyers sol should send a notice.

I sent the letter onto my solicitor for urgent attention.

I sent an FB message to the current owners to ask them to chase their sol before they start getting bailiffs knocking.

Anything else I can do?

    What period does this cover?

Hi. What should have happened was your solicitor should have kept some of your sale price back until all the management fees outstanding had been paid and resolved and then refunded you any money. I think you have done most of what you can. Chasing your solicitor and maybe contacting management company again to ask for your final outstanding payment bill and paying it is about all you can do.
I wouldn't worry about new buyers having bailiffs at door as if outstanding bill is in your name then the bailiffs can't enforce anything on new buyers and will just have a wasted journey.
    Good luck with resolving it.

The demands were for 27th Dec 2016 (fees), 25 March 2017 for both service and rent. I completed on 14th March 2017. My sol at the time confirmed I was not liable when i sent them a copy of the original demand.

They were wrong. Clearly the charge was when you owned the property.

Yes you owe that money. Solicitor doesn't know what he's talking about

You are only liable for any outstanding bills until you moved. If it's the new buyers bill and not your's and they haven't paid then that's their problem. Don't worry about it. You have contacted people and that's more than enough. Just enjoy your new property and have a glass of wine to celebrate :)
