We are just about to exchange contracts on a 3 bedroom Rufford property at this Persimmon site. The property is still at timber frame construction stage. Was just interested to see if any other buyers or those thinking of buying at this Persimmon site also frequent this forum.
Would also be great to hear from anyone who has purchased or even simply viewed a Rufford. As far as we can tell none have ever been constructed in our region and the sales people at the site have never actually seen one either. Therefore we are buying completely off-plan without ever seeing even a similar property!

Make sure it's not a leasehold house.

Timber frame?0

I would really advise against newbuild, for the leasehold scandal, mentioned above.
Please. Just don't.0 -
The property is sold on a Leasehold basis. It is not one of these doubling every 10 ones or anything though, increases inline with RPI. I have talked at length with our solicitor about it.0

Yes, a timber frame is constructed and then a brick skin around that.0 -

I still don't understand why you feel it's preferable to rent the land on which your house sits rather than own it.0 -
Is it this site?

Pimento - Yes, that is the site. I have previously found and read that article.0

I'll repeat ReadingTim's question, then."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

It's not that I find it preferable to pay a Leasehold charge. I have lived within a previous phase of this development for a number of years and I like the area. I like what I have seen of the house and would like to purchase it.
I would prefer it if the house was being offered on a Freehold basis, but that is not the deal being offered. I can only consider what they are offering. I have done my research on the Leasehold situation and spoken with my Solicitor about it. I have made the decision that I am happy with the terms being offered and I am happy to pay the lease to live where I would like to live.0
