Car tax by D.D

Options
I started paying for my car tax on D.D from last May 2016 and the last payment to make 12 months was Start of April this year and it said on the E-mail last year that they would e-mail me this year with the payment plan to continue.
I have had no E-mail yet , has anyone else come across this.

Also my cars M.O.T runs out middle of this month (june) so would the D.V.L.A have took my car tax at the start of this month (June)..

If I understand you correctly, your tax would have run out at the end of April.

You need to check whether the car is still taxed, and check your bank account, rather than asking random strangers on the internet. If it,s not taxed, speak to DVLA ASAP.

I have checked my bank account and they have just continued to take it from May as a new 12 month instalment and it has gone up monthly by a small amount, but l've not received a new instalment plan .
Did car tax go up in the budget .

I got an email confirming my direct debit about a month before the renewal - I pay mine annually, but I'd expect you'd get something similar. The email came from directdebit@taxdisc.service.gov.uk.

I suppose you could always use the direct debit guarantee from your bank to get the money back, however then you'll be untaxed...

Here are the rates for cars registered between 2001 and 2017.

    https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax-rate-tables/rates-for-cars-registered-on-or-after-1-march-2001

And here is a list of historic rates (unverified)

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_Excise_Duty#Rates_since_April_2005

There have been some small rises e.g. Band D was £110 and is now £115.
