Credit card for abroad purchases

OP - did you read this comprehensive article, which lists the top five cards (including all those recommended in subsequent posts) with their pros and cons? I'd have thought it answers your question well and somewhat more efficiently than waiting for individual posters to mention their favoured option and investigating those one by one....Candyapple wrote: »0 -
I think I have read that0

Get a FairFX dollar top up card, if you have cash. It's better honestly.
I signed up for EU card from them last year, did top up with debit card (no charge, but if you use credit card, there'd be charge and also a cash handling fee by your card issuer) and used and spent in Paris with my wife

Why would you recommend that card when it offers a poor exchange rate?
There are many cards (Credit, Debit and Pre-Paid) that offer almost perfect exchange rates and have no fees for cash withdrawals or spending.
I would personally recommend the Monzo card which anyone can get and you top up using an app on your phone. Any spending instantly comes up on your phone and it offers an almost perfect exchange rate with no fees.0 -
Is monzo any good? I just want a card which is easy to use & won't cost loads abroad0

I've used it abroad recently and it worked everytime for cash withdrawals and purchases. The exchange rate was almost perfect and it didn't cost me a penny in any fees so you won't get a card which is cheaper.
My phone network also allows me to use my phone abroad for no extra cost. So i get instant notifications on the app showing my spending and the exchange rate.0 -

Is nationwide Select Credit Card any good?
Or can I get better?
The Nationwide Select Credit Card charges a min £3 fee for cash withdrawals (2.5%), so why would you think it is good?.
You have already been told about a credit card that offers no fees on cash withdrawals and purchases (Halifax Clarity).
Plus i have told you about the Monzo card which offers no fees on cash withdrawals or purchases and requires no credit checks.
So why are you still asking about other cards?.0 -
Best not to rise to the bait - OP obviously chooses not to make decisions based on helpfully-presented facts (or at all!) but prefers to ignore sensible suggestions and keep parroting the same vague and subjective question about different cards....why are you still asking about other cards?.Is aqua any good?Is monzo any good?Is nationwide Select Credit Card any good?0
