How do I get plans for pipes and cables going under the property garden?

I'm having some paving slabs in the rear garden replaced which will require digging to a depth that could interfere with pipes and cables. The builder requested that I get plans for this before he starts. Anyone know how or where I get this plans? He wasn't too sure and just mentioned the council but I can't find anything on their site.

Please help, TIA

I am very surprised builder requires to "dig to a depth that could interfere with pipes and cables" to lay paving slabs.

Phone your local planning officer. Please be advised drawings are not always available or accurate.

Well, the garden is not completely level so making it level will mean some parts will have to be dug down a bit deeper than normal. Also, there was mentioning of layers of hardcore and sand foundation underneath the layer of paving slabs.

    Thanks for the reply though.

If you kept your search packs from when you bought the house, they probably contain as much information as you are going to find.

The utility companies relevant to your area have them. Gas, water and electricity

The water company are unlikely to have them.

Scottish Water provided me with their pipe layouts of my area when we had a driveway installed recently

I'd. be surprised if they were unique

Search 'Dial-a-dig' on the web, they should be able to hunt down the info you're looking for

The English water companies and councils have no idea where water pipes and drains are. I got info from my neighbour who has lived here for decades when I had to find out about mine, otherwise nobody else knew.

The OP could find people who have lived in the area a long time and ask them.

Depending on the age of your property, if you know the developer's name, you might be able to ask them?

(I'm the first owner here and I've felt it's my duty to get as much info as possible while I can in case any future owner needs it)
